बिलासपुर। दीपावली की रोशनी में जब पूरा शहर उत्सव में डूबा था, उस समय सिम्स (छत्तीसगढ़ आयु विज्ञान संस्थान) की गलियारों में सेवा की मशाल जल रही थी। अवकाश के दिन भी डीन डॉ. रमणेश मूर्ति और मेडिकल सुपरिटेंडेंट डॉ. लखन सिंह अस्पताल में मौजूद रहे। आधी रात तक दोनों वरिष्ठ अधिकारी इमरजेंसी और वार्डों की व्यवस्था पर निगरानी करते रहे, फिर दूसरे दिन सुबह-सुबह अस्पताल पहुंचकर मरीजों की स्थिति का जायजा लिया। यह उदाहरण स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं के प्रति सच्ची प्रतिबद्धता और संवेदनशीलता का प्रतीक है।
दीपावली से पूर्व सिम्स प्रशासन ने आपातकालीन सेवाओं को लेकर विशेष तैयारियां की थीं। डीन डॉ. मूर्ति और मेडिकल सुपरिटेंडेंट डॉ. सिंह ने सभी विभागों — इमरजेंसी, आईसीयू, ऑपरेशन थिएटर, पैथोलॉजी, रेडियोलॉजी आदि का निरीक्षण कर यह सुनिश्चित किया कि किसी भी मरीज को त्योहार के दौरान असुविधा न हो।उन्होंने विभागाध्यक्षों, यूनिट प्रभारियों और रेजिडेंट डॉक्टरों की ड्यूटी शिफ्टवार तय करने के निर्देश दिए ताकि हर समय अनुभवी डॉक्टर उपलब्ध रहें।
अस्पताल प्रशासन ने आकस्मिक परिस्थितियों से निपटने के लिए 24 घंटे स्टाफ सहित एम्बुलेंस की तैनाती की। जीवन रक्षक उपकरण, एमऑक्सीजन सिलेंडर, रक्त भंडारण और आवश्यक दवाओं की उपलब्धता की भी व्यक्तिगत रूप से जांच की गई।
डीन डॉ. मूर्ति ने कहा —
“मरीजों की सुविधा और सुरक्षा सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता है। सिम्स परिवार त्योहारों में भी सेवा के प्रति समर्पित है — क्योंकि हमारे लिए हर दिन एक नई जिम्मेदारी लेकर आता है।”
अस्पताल के भीतर अनावश्यक भीड़ को रोकने और आपातकालीन मार्ग को सुचारू रखने के लिए सुरक्षा कर्मियों को भी विशेष निर्देश दिए गए।

त्योहार के अगले दिन मंगलवार की सुबह, अवकाश होने के बावजूद डीन और एमएस दोनों अधिकारी फिर से अस्पताल पहुंचे। उन्होंने वार्डों का भ्रमण कर भर्ती मरीजों की स्थिति जानी और व्यवस्था सुधार के निर्देश दिए। उनका यह कदम मेडिकल प्रशासनिक जिम्मेदारी के साथ मानवीय मूल्यों का भी अद्भुत उदाहरण बना।

Duty Beyond Festival: SIMS Bilaspur doctors stay on alert through Diwali night, ensuring uninterrupted patient care

While the city celebrated Diwali in dazzling lights, inside the corridors of the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), the glow of dedication outshone the festival lamps. On the night of Diwali, Dean Dr. Ramesh Moorthy and Medical Superintendent Dr. Lakhan Singh remained on duty, inspecting emergency wards, ICUs, and operation theatres until midnight — and returned again the next morning, even on a public holiday, to personally review patient care and hospital arrangements.
In preparation for the festive season, the SIMS administration had placed the entire hospital on alert mode. Department heads were instructed to ensure that senior doctors and resident teams remained available in shifts, guaranteeing round-the-clock medical response.The Dean and Medical Superintendent conducted surprise checks across the emergency, intensive care, and surgical units, verifying the availability of oxygen cylinders, IV fluids, essential medicines, and blood units.
An ambulance with medical staff was stationed 24×7 to respond to any emergency during the festival.
“Patient care is our highest priority. Even during festivals, we cannot afford to pause — health emergencies don’t wait for holidays,”
said Dr. Moorthy, reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to uninterrupted public service.
Security staff were also briefed to restrict unnecessary crowding inside the premises and keep emergency corridors clear for patient movement.
Commitment Beyond Duty
Despite the next day being an official holiday, both senior officers — the Dean and the Medical Superintendent — visited the hospital early in the morning to review ward rounds and patient recovery. Their gesture became a symbol of medical dedication and a reminder of the silent workforce that keeps healthcare systems alive, even on festive nights.
